So, from the day of our 1st sonogram, we were sure that IV was going to look just like III. And even when he was born, that lip and chin are totally III! After looking at my baby picture, we realized that IV may have my nose. Lately people have been commenting on how much he looks like me. I think if the picture is not a profile, I might see it but IV's mouth is undeniably III's! What do you think??
We have lots of mixed emotions about IV being 2 months old today and moving him to his room. It is weird not having him right beside me. I know it is just the 1st step of him growing up! He took all of his naps in his room yesterday and slept great! Last night, was ok...not his best night of sleep but he did great!
AFTER, DURING and BEFORE....sorry the pics are backwards.
We LOVE bath time now...it was not always this way. When we started out bathing him downstairs in the kitchen sink, he did not enjoy it. Now that we are in his little 'big boy' tub he loves it. As soon as IV hears the water running, he just relaxes and becomes like a wet noodle... seen here in last photo.
When IV was a week old, he got to meet his Great Nanny Self. We are so thankful that she was able to come to TX and spend some time with him. Even though miles separate us, we are also thankful that Great Nanny Self has a webcam and she can see him anytime she wants! This past weekend, IV got to meet his Great BeBe Jessup. We had a great time meeting half way between here in H-town at a great little restaurant. Great BeBe said that she had not held a baby in so long, she didn't know if she would remember how...but she did great!
With the meetings of Great Nanny Self and Great BeBe Jessup, we are sad that IV did not get to know Great Papaw Self, Great Papaw and Nanny Dove, Great MeMe Davis and Great Papa Jessup. They would have been so proud of us and would have adored their Great Grandson. We miss you all!
I am so thankful that I was able to capture this moment the other night after bath time. It will always be a precious memory to me. I hope that IV appreciates his daddy singing this song to him.
Like any Christian parent, we hope that IV will one day understand and accept Jesus' love for him and serve Him in all the he does. It is a great simple reminder to III and I too...that Jesus loves us and that we are precious in His sight (even in our un-precious moments) all the time. How will we teach IV this truth if we don't live it our ourselves. What a HUGE responsibility!
PHOTO 1: Goodnight Daddy. IV had just had a bath and was about to fall asleep. PHOTO 2: IV loves to talk to BlaBla in the morning. BlaBla is knit elephant rattle...he loves him and talks to him so much every morning while I am changing his diaper. PHOTO 3: III and IV had a chat on Sunday morning for III left for the training. I love this picture!!!
This week, III held a training for some employees and also attended a industry conference in Downtown Austin. Needless to say, we did not see him much this week. What did people do before cell phones, picture emails, etc. I know these 3 pics I sent him helped the time go by faster. He was so close being in Austin but felt so far away since he was not here. This was especially the case on Sun-Tues since IV had a rough couple of days.
Another feeling of 'close, but so far' has come today in another way. Today I was chatting with an old friend and found out that his brother and wife have done 3 rounds of in vitro with no result. How devistating that must be! I had this overwhelming feeling that I have forgotten where I have come from...the depair of infertility. How close (physically and mentally) we are to IV (our 'result'), yet feeling so far away from the infertiltiy world already. Even in our pregnancy, we blogged, read, shared our story about how the Lord blessed us in His own way but just 7 weeks later, its seems like a foriegn land...not b/c we left but because we no longer qualify. We are parents.
We have had some new 1sts this past week! Top Photo...1st time I got to part in the "Customer with Child" Parking. I have waited a long time to park here. I have to admit, I got a little emotional when I pulled in this coveted parking spot. I had to think there was probably someone in this store in the same shoes I was in a year ago. Longing to either know that they would park in these spots one day or the removal of constant reminders that you don't have a child. Second Photo...We are starting to get lots of smiles and this is one of the 1st ones that he held for a long time. Third photo...IV's 1st time in the sling. He seemed to love it and I got lots done :) Fourth photo...the 1st hair grab and PULL!!! OUCH!
Yesterday I woke up to find the clock saying it was 4:40am...normally it says 1:30am. I was stunned and so excited! IV slept six and half hours straight! What a huge accomplishment at 6 weeks old! And then last night he slept 6 hours! I hope we are on to something here!
Z and IV have been hanging out a little bit (Pictured above) and they really do love each other. Z is so calm when IV cries and he pretty much sleeps through everything at night.
Yesterday (8/11) IV is 6 weeks old! Where does the time go? I know moms talk about how fast they grow up but you really don't realize what they mean til you are there. Yesterday was an eventful day....IV and I had our 1st outing on our own. We went to Hobby Lobby to buy some ribbon for a diaper cake I am making. He slept the entire time. Then once we got back home we had some visitors...Misty, Mollie, Denise, Easton, Cooper, Ginger, Chloe and Hayden. It was great to have friends over and to be able to catch up with them. I have missed them!
Some news things about IV...he smiles all the time now, he is starting to 'talk' to us when we talk to him, he is sleeping about four and a half hours at night before he wakes to eat, we sing "Rise and Shine and give God the Glory, Glory" every morning, we also sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" everyday, and today we played "Peek-a-boo" for the first time, he still crying during most diaper changes and baths, we have been to church twice and we all may go on a family date on Saturday!
III and I are doing great. We went on an 'unofficial' date while III's mom was here to IHOP (unofficial b/c we only had 45 mins and thought our new IHOP would be fast) and then we went on an 'official' date last weekend while Mom and Dad were here to Texas Land and Cattle.
* As you might notice I used Letters and Roman numbers instead of names to protect our family!
